Boards are a legal requirement and can be an albatross for both for-profit and nonprofit companies.  But Boards should be a resource of ideas, of energy and drive for the mission of the business.

Participants will learn about:
  • How to build a Board that has an effective composition.
  • How to recruit Board members who will engage.
  • How to increase a sense of 'team' within the Board.
  • Why recruiting new Board members is a critical task for the leadership of the business.
  • The one mistake most Boards make that cripples the effectiveness of the Board. 
We will consider three types of Boards:
  • For-profit governing
  • For-profit and nonprofit advisory
  • Nonprofit governing
